This year's event showcases three natural and picturesque venues of downtown Jacksonville (formerly known as "Cowford"): The Jacksonville Landing and St. Johns River, The Springfield Area Historical Neighborhood, The Riverside Area Historical Neighborhood.

A Day in Deland

The music festival was filling the air on this perfect fall day in downtown Deland. I did two palette knife plein air paintings...what fun! "Copper Crown" sits atop the Volushia County Court House. Mt Dora Art Festival 2010 Poster Painting

Mt. Dora is my hometown. You can imagine how excited I am to be the poster artist. This is not just a painting of a scene. This is a painting from the heart. Standing by the fountain with my boys, Dylan and Ashton, is my mother, Doris. My father, Bob and my sister, Vonnie are sitting on the bench under the arbor watching the boys play. Steve & Judy, my dear neighbors are sitting on the bench in the foreground. My husband, Keith and I are sitting at the table under the umbrella. There's also a story behind the bike, but you can ask me about that in person. Come to the Mt. Dora Art Festival being held Saturday & Sunday February 6th & 7th. Bring a poster by my tent and I will be happy to sign it for you. Hope to see you there!

Water Lilly Gold on Jullington Creek(sold)

These 2 palette knife paintings were done from the dock at Alpine Groves on the St. Johns River Saturday at the close of the event and were the last works to be turned in. A beautiful barefoot girl played the violin while we painted in the warm breeze at sunset. (sold)

Cypress Nightfall was also painted from the dock during the quick draw Friday evening. It was completed in 45min. as a storm approached. A rainbow dropped down into the river and began to move toward us as we painted. (sold)

Persimmon Pearls & Wild Oranges were done the first day of the event at Stetson Kennedy's Beluthahatche house on the river. How fortunate to meet this living legend. You could feel the creative energy. (sold)

Tractor Parking at Alpine Groves

Cracker Cattle was painted at the Bailey Ranch, the Needmore Land & Cattle Company where Sarah Bailey was my gracious host. These colorful cows were first introduced to Florida by the Spanish settlers. They look like calicos, black, white, tan, brown, spotted, and splashed with fabulous curved horns. (sold)

There were over 40 artists who created over 250 paintings. It was an amazing event, the history of old Florida, the fellowship with the locals and artists, and the beautiful land that has been preserved by the North Florida Land Trust.

What fabulous gardens to behold on this 2008 biennial tour of Lake Eola's Historic District! The seemingly endless visual delights inspired the Central Florida Plein Air Artists who painted at this event.
